The Bureau of Integrated Rural Development (BIRD) is one of the four research centres of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.

BIRD offers a comprehensive multidisciplinary research, training, consultancy and advisory services in rural development. BIRD has both national and international reputation as one of the foremost University-based institutions for development with special expertise in rural development, project planning, and management and has excellent reputation for training. BIRD is proud of its practical contribution to rural development and its training programmes.

BIRD has worked in all the ten regions of Ghana and has thorough knowledge of the district assemblies. BIRD prides itself with a good track record of effective community mobilisation, project initiation and implementation as well as monitoring and evaluation. BIRD has played a fundamental role in the economic and social development in rural areas in Ghana over the past 25 years and our aim is to enhance the development efforts of government, international development agencies, grassroot organizations, and private individuals.
