The Bureau of Integrated and Rural Development (BIRD-KNUST) held a send-off ceremony on September 20th, 2023 for the 2022-2023 national service personnel year group to honour their hard work and dedication. The event celebrated their significant contributions during their service period.
The event opened with a prayer thanking God for their lives, and afterwards, internship students introduced themselves to senior members. The senior members shared their experiences with national service personnel, offered encouragement, and talked about life after service. The Director, Dr. Ebenezer Owusu-Addo, expressed that outgoing NSS personnel should prioritize placing God first in all their endeavours.
“You should always put God first in everything you do, have faith and patience, be a person of integrity, and maintain the network created” (Stated, Dr. Owusu-Addo)
Dr. Yaw Amo-Sarpong (Energy), in his remarks, stated that working with the Bureau is an excellent opportunity to acquire research skills that can be applied in personal and professional life. He concluded that everyone who has worked with the Bureau excels and finds favour in the sight of God and man. Mr. Ishmael Ayeng, on behalf of his NSS colleagues, expressed gratitude to the Bureau and presented a citation to the Department in appreciation of their support during their stay.
The event ended with mixed emotions as they bid farewell to the national service personnel and looked forward to their next chapter. The director led a closing prayer, and the meeting concluded.
