Dr. Monica Addison assumes role as new Director of BIRD

On November 1st, 2023, the Bureau of Integrated Rural Development (BIRD) under the College of Agriculture and Natural Resource (CANR) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) a brief handing-over to usher in its new Director, Dr. (Mrs) Monica Addison.

The Bureau of Integrated Rural Development [BIRD] under the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources [CANR] of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology [KNUST], Kumasi has presented study findings on local raw material sourcing [LRMS] initiative to Guinness Ghana and its stakeholders at the LRMS Report Launch in Accra on October 25, 2023. During the presentation, Dr. Ebenezer Owusu-Addo, the Director of BIRD-KNUST, explained the different components of the initiative using a PowerPoint presentation.

The Bureau of Integrated and Rural Development (BIRD-KNUST) held a send-off ceremony on September 20th, 2023 for the 2022-2023 national service personnel year group to honour their hard work and dedication. The event celebrated their significant contributions during their service period.

The Bureau of Integrated Development of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (BIRD – KNUST) on Thursday, July 28, 2022 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sekyere Afram Plains District Assembly, at Drobonso in the Ashanti Region.

Mr Hamidu Suleman,  the District Chief Executive(DCE), Sekyere Afram Plains, noted that the aim of the MoU was to promote sustainable and inclusive rural development in the area.

Director of OGR meets BIRD Staff

A team from the Office of Grants and Research (OGR) led by Prof. Philip Antwi-Agyei, the Director, on Monday May 16, 2022 paid curtesy visit to the Bureau of Integrated Rural Development (BIRD), KNUST. The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize with activities of the Bureau, challenges and way forward. The Director of BIRD, Dr. Ebenezer Owusu-Addo, on behalf of the Bureau, briefed the OGR team on the activities of the Bureau, and after several discussions on the challenges facing the Bureau, Prof.

Health screening organized for BIRD Staff

As part of the general healthcare exercise organized for all Staff of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), KNUST, a health screening exercise was organized for Staff of the Bureau. The exercise that was undertaken by the Health and Safety Committee from the University occurred on Thursday April 28, 20222 at the Bureau’s conference room and was observed by all Staff as well as National Service (NSS) personnel.
